WEST WINDIES WIN

WEST WINDIES WIN

IT LIVED UP TO THE HYPE - THIS 20/20 CRICKET MATCH, IN AID OF THE CARELINE APPEAL, BETWEEN THE LULWORTH SKIPPERS AND THE WEST WINDIES, AT THE CREECH - WAS A BLINDER.

With the sun low in the sky - the Skippers went into bat first as the West Windies had more players available to field at the toss. The Skippers knocked up a respectable 131 in the 20 overs allowed.

Tired from a long day in the field, and age, the Windies replied and made steady progress, but ended up needing 16 runs from the last two overs. Then the turning point came, when Downey junior, facing the ferocious pace of Weld junior, hooked the ball for 6. Along with a few other runs that over, the Windies needed just 3 from the last 6 balls. A single from the first followed by a boundary on the third sealed the Skippers fate.

Some great performances and a game played in great spirits.

Afterwards we retired to the Weld Arms for a BBQ - thanks Amanda, Brian, Gill and Catherine.

Talk has already started about a return match next year - watch this space.
